well, as the screen shot is of Twiter and i sent a link of the jaiku conversation, it could have been someone else :)
Saw the story on ArcticStartup and as they are nice folks, thought they might be interested in the "other" information that is out there (that is probably burried in the river of RT's of the same TC article).
As much as I believe that the Twitter/TechCrunch echo chamber can't be trusted I find the fact that @mattb hasn't posted to Twitter in 18 hours: http://twitter.com/mattb and they haven't updated their blog: http://blog.dopplr.com/
This kind of silence tends to suggest that they're now part of Nokia. Since some of their users are probably considering deleting their accounts right now I doubt they'd willingly let this kind of uncertainty continue if they were still independent.
Sounds about right, but with the addition that they are probably still in negotiations (huddled with Lawyers?), and hence there is nothing publicly announced.
So has TechCrunch now blown the deal (if it was ever on the table)?
@adewale: There must be something more to it than just unwillingness so I'm also leaning towards undergoing negotiations. It's just too strange that no press release has gone out, @mattb hasn't updated twitter despite hundreds of congratulatory messages, or that the Dopplr blog hasn't been updated.
Now, to speculate additionally, could the Nokia rumors benefit Dopplr in order to raise the price for another potential buyer? It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Guess they were waiting for Monday to annunce so that it would hit more press sites. Remember reading somewhere that you shouyld anounce on Monday or Tuesday, but never on Thursday or Friday

Hehe, det händer inte ofta men ibland blixtrar jag till — även på Twitter :)

Ju mer jag tänker på det skall jag nog inte Twittra sådant här i framtiden. Risken är att man får Michael Arrington efter sig ;)

shame @vilpponen chose to use a screenshot of Twitter rather than the original Jaiku I sent him :)

If there was a real Nokia-Dopplr deal, I'd trust Dopplr's blog to unveil it.

Turns out that TC was right on the Nokia <3 Dopplr story after all. Guess @mattb just wanted them to sweat a little before breaking the news.
My source said that in retrospect, @mattb didn't seem as surprised as perhaps one would have expected.
